International Affairs
- On the eve of his India, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said he plans to sign a nuclear cooperation agreement that would allow Australia to sell uranium to India, which is expecting a "signification outcome" from his visit.
National Affairs
- PM Narendra Modi concludes successful visit to Japan. Some of the highlights of this visit are:-
- Japan promised to give USD 35 billion to India over the next 5 years for developmental projects.
- Japan has lifted the ban on six Indian entities including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) which was imposed in the aftermath of 1998 nuclear tests.
- Modi has asked NRIs to visit India at least once a year to boost tourism.
- Both sides have signed five pacts while vowing to take their relationship from strategic partnership to a special strategic partnership. These pacts cover the following five issues:-
- Defence Exchanges
- Cooperation in clean energy
- Roads and highways
- Healthcare
- Women
- In Kyoto, a pact was signed under which Modi's Lok Sabha Constituency Varanasi will be developed on the pattern of Kyoto "Smart City" with the help of Japan.
- Signed a MoU for cooperation in heritage conservation, city modernization and cooperation in the fields of art, culture and academics.
- India has decided to set up a Special Management Team directly under the PMO to facilitate proposals from Japan.
- The two sides agreed to enhance their defence and strategic cooperation to a new level and also decided to speed up negotiations on a civil nuclear deal that could not be concluded now.
- Tokyo will help India in providing financial technical and operational support to introduce Bullet trains,a project that Modi has been actively pursuing.
- President Pranab Mukherjee today released a set of Eight Commemorative Postage Stamps featuring renowned Indian classical musicians at a function at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

- The Supreme Court today expressed dissatisfaction and directs Centre to submit stage-wise plan for cleaning Ganga river, directs it to submit a power-point presentation on its plan.
- The Project Management Office (PMO) asked government departments to publicize the scheme of 100% tax exemption for contributions to PM's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to help the needy.
